EPRD again supports the Armenian veterinary project – Third Study Tour to Poland

At the end of June 2007, in the framework of the TACIS project “Support to Ministry of Agriculture in Armenia”, EPRD Ltd. organised the third study visit to the National Veterinary Research Institute in Pulawy in Poland for two representatives from the Central Veterinary Laboratory in Erebouni and two representatives from the National Stock Breeding and Veterinary Scientific Centre accompanied by Polish Project Team Leader.

The study tour enabled to achieve the following project result: Regional laboratories are appropriately equipped and staffed to carry out qualitative serological and bacteriological tests (Result No. 7). In addition the study tour will contribute in achieving Results 3 and 4 – training.

The main goal of the study tour was to acquaint the participants with the official organisation of Polish laboratory system and accreditation procedures in order to improve the quality of veterinary and food safety controls carried out by the Armenian Central and regional veterinary laboratories. Moreover, there was organized a training in advanced theoretical and practical techniques and operation of new analytical equipment as well as physical, chemical, biological and microbiological analysis of food materials/food products/raw materials. Additionally, the participants had a meeting with NVRI Director.

The EPRD staff supported the visit in all their aspects, including logistic and administrative issues. The study tour was the third one organized within this project, which is being implemented by EPRD Ltd.
