EPRD will be supporting European authorities involved in the implementation of EIA and SEA Directives

JASPERS has been asked by several Member States to support competent authorities involved in the implementation of EIA and SEA Directives in developing training strategies for the staff that will be involved, during the next programming period 2014-2010 in EIA and SEA processes.

Within the current project EPRD’s team of experts will prepare a standard set of tools and recommendations/guidelines that could be used by the environmental authorities in any interest EU Member State to design and implement its own strategic approach to build EIA/SEA capacity in the administration, so as to satisfy the requirements of the ex-ante conditionality.

This standard set will include tools for ensuring effective training and dissemination of information to relevant staff, as well as concise standard recommendations/guidelines for developing sound EIA reports for projects in those sectors more frequently requesting Community financial support. Once this set of tools and recommendation/guidelines will be developed, JASPERS intend to pilot its use to address requests received by Romania and Bulgaria, in close cooperation with the Bulgarian and Romanian environmental authorities.
