The finalisation of the project „Capacity building and grants to civil society organisations in social services” in Croatia was marked by the final wrap-up event which was held in Split on 13-14 November 2007.
The number of participants exceeded 160 and they were mostly representatives of local governments and NGOs who actively took part in the establishment of public-private partnerships after completion of advisory services in each of the 30 local communities covered by the project.
On the first day in the afternoon, the participants visited several NGOs in Split which established partnerships as part of the project and later that day, they gathered in the Museum of the City of Split for the exhibition of the communities’ promotional boards and a reception.
The second day started with a press conference with participation of the Head of Government Office for NGOs, Mr Igor Vidačak, the project Team Leader, Mr Rafał Kunaszyk, the Project Promotion expert, Mrs. Nives Ivelja and EPRD Managing Director, Mr Zbigniew Włosek. They answered questions about the project achievements and described concrete examples of signed partnerships.
Afterwards, an outline and recapitulation of the project implementation was given by the Team Leader, followed by a presentation of good practices of local partnerships by the representatives of the cities: Kamanje, Split and Belišće. This caused the discussion moderated by Mrs Ivelja about new trends in delivering social services, with active participation of Mr Željko Juraj from Ministry of Science, Education and Sport and Ms Sadika Grozdanić from Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
The wrap-up event finished with panel discussions of two separate groups of participants and among the topics raised were: network for the development of partnerships in social service delivery and the promotion of social service partnerships.
During the conference all local communities were awarded diplomas of completion of advisory services.
