One of main pillars of renewed Lisbon Strategy is development of information society, which should help in transition of economy into the knowledge based economy and should create job places in sectors with development potential. The evaluation will support to define if efforts financed under Structural Funds for creation of information society in Poland taken so far, were effective, sustainable and useful. In the programming period 2007-2013, significant financial resources are envisaged to support projects in the scope of information society. For this reason there is of utmost importance to check results of interventions already implemented in this subject, financed under EU funds in programming period 2004-2006. It will facilitate to formulate important conclusions and recommendations during creation of policy directions in information society development as well as during formulation, assessment and selection of new projects in this subject.
