Project description:

The Pension System Reform in Serbia started in 2001 by the adoption of the Law on Amendments that has been in force since 2002. The reform has been stepped up by the adoption of the new Pension and Disability Insurance Law, its amendments in 2005, by the adoption of the Compulsory Social Insurance Contribution (covered disability and insurance, health insurance and unemployment) in 2004 and its subsequent amendments, as well as by the adoption of the set of laws in 2005 regulating individual relevant issues or which were intended to address the issues arising in this subject field. The main goal of the reform was to contribute towards creation of a fiscally sustainable pension system, with regular meeting of pensioner entitlements. Numerous changes were introduced compared to the previous system. The global objective is to support the formulation of a project fiche and Terms of Reference for EU funded support to reform of the pension system under the IPA 2008 annual programme for Serbia.
