Mid Term Evaluation of support to “Plantwise: integrated plant health systems in Africa”
Zambia
European Union
CAS Afrique subsaharienne, CAB International
Plantwise offers an innovative approach that aims to help smallholder farmers to lose less of their crops to plant health problems and improve their productivity. Plantwise is well-aligned with the FSTP’s main objective of improving food security in favour of the poorest and most vulnerable and contributing to the achievement of Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 1 (halve extreme poverty and hunger). The action is implemented in nine countries in Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Zambia, and Malawi) with some additional pilot activities in Burkina Faso and Ethiopia. EPRD will provide the decision-makers of the relevant external co-operation services of the European Commission and the wider public with sufficient information to make an overall independent assessment about the performance of the programme. Moreover, the experts will identify key lessons and propose practical recommendations for follow-up actions.
