In pursuance of the requirements determined by the act dated on 7 July 1994 about the spatial planning, the main objective of the elaboration of conditions and directions of spatial planning in the study is to define the spatial policy of the gmina. It is the answer to the question which relates to aims and measures of spatial management of gmina in the long term. According to the administrative division the gmina of Jodłowa belongs to the Podkarpackie Voivodship (until 1.01.1999 to tarnowskie Voivdship) and it is situated on the west side of this voivodship. The gmina is situated 37 km east of Tarnów and 69 km west of Rzeszów – the capital of the podkarpackie voivodship. The area of the gmina is L-shaped, on the north-south axis the length of the gmina is about 10 km but on the east-west axis it is about 5-10 km wide. The area of the gmina of Jodłowa encompasses the area of about 60 km2. Population of the gmina amounts to 5,65 thousand of inhabitants. There are two major national roads in the neighbourhood of the gmina: one of them, the road no 4, runs from the west to the east linking Kraków and Rzeszów. The other road runs from the north to the south (Pilzno – Jasło). This is national road no 922. Gmina Jodlowa is situated in the south-west part of the podkarpackie voivodship. The gmina is divided into 5 settling units: (Jodłowa Village, which is divided into tree communities: Jodłowa Dolna, Jodłowa Górna, Jodłowa Wisowa) and Dębowa, Dęborzyn, Dzwonowa and Zagórze. This whole area is about 60 km2. Jodłowa is one of the smallest gminas in the Tarnowskie ex-voivodship. Jodłowa Village is the main centre of providing services.
