Project description:

At present Kazakhstan is intensively getting prepared to become a member of the World Trade Organisation. The Kazakhstan agro-industrial sectors need harmonization with the requirement of the WTO. Taking into account statistics, currently we can notice increased number of horse diseases, which meat is the basis of the Kazakh’s nutrition. In this year on the basis of Kazakh Veterinary Scientific Institute a laboratory on standardization and certification of the food products and animal origin materials was organized. But now the institute faces the problem of formation of qualified professionals who can master the methods of safety control of food stuff and animal origin materials. The global objective of the project is to enforce the European safety standards and measures in relation to production/consumption of animal origin products, with particular reference to horsemeat. The specific objectives of the project are as follows: - approximation of the European safety standards for animal origin products, particularly, horse meat, to the modern conditions of Kazakhstan; - training of a group of professionals to have a knowledge of European safety and quality assurance standards for animal origin products.
