Project description:

Joint approaches and agreed norms and standards in introducing modern technologies of inventory, identification, safety and security of museum valuables (including temporary loans) will allow minimising the risks related to falsification and thefts and decrease the costs of international cultural projects (e.g. due to a reduction of insurance costs) in the framework of EU-Russia cultural dialogue. It will also contribute to mobility of museum and other forms of cultural exchanges. The global objective of the Project is to assist Russia in developing a modern high-technology system of inventory, identification, safety and security of museum valuables, taking into consideration standards and legal framework of the EU countries. Specific objective is to provide the Beneficiary (the Ministry of Culture) with the information and expertise on the following: - standards and legal framework in the EU countries in the area of using innovative technologies (including electronic) of inventory, identification, safety and security of cultural valuables; - experience and practices of using innovative technologies in state and other types of cultural institutions in the EU countries; - experience of interaction with law-enforcement and judiciary bodies in the EU countries in cases of damage, falsification or theft of museum objects marked by innovative technologies; - innovative technologies and research & development in the area of marking of cultural valuables in the EU countries; - innovative technologies of identification of cultural valuables in the EU countries; - innovative electronic systems of inventory of cultural valuables; - innovative systems of safety and security of museum collections.
