The HRD-VET project is a two-year EU funded project being implemented for The Turkish Ministry of National Education and The Council of Higher Education. The overall objective is to promote the development and competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Eastern and South-Eastern regions of Turkey through the participation of a qualified and skilled labour force. The purpose is to promote human resources development through the up-grading and modernisation of initial and continuing vocational education and training (VET) in the selected provinces within a lifelong learning perspective. The project is being implemented in eight pilot provinces taking eight economic sectors into account, which are IT, Electrical and Electronics, Automotive, Textile, Food, Mechanical Technologies, Metal Works and Tourism. For eleven occupational areas under these economic sectors, formal and non-formal VET curricula will be revised for 2nd, 3rd and 4th levels (of European Qualifications Framework) and they will be developed for the 5th level. Project also covers a series of trainings for school managers and teachers on managerial and teaching related issues and in particular on competence based modular training. There will also be trainings to be delivered on entrepreneurship.
