In pursuance of the requirements determined by the act dated on 7 July 1994 about the spatial planning, the main objective of the elaboration of conditions and directions of spatial planning in the study is to define the spatial policy of gmina . It is the answer for the question which consider aims and measures of spatial management of gmina in the long term. Gmina Sędziszów Małopolski is situated in the central - west part of podkarpackie voivodship. Residence of Gmina authorities is situated 43 km on the north from Kraków . The length of the gmina is about 10 km on the north- south side, and on the north- south it is about 6 km wide. Residence of gmina’s authorities is situated about 25 km on the west from Rzeszów- the capital of voivodoship and 56 km on the east from Tarnów. Area of gmina has elongated shape on the north- earth side and its length is about 10 km, but it on the west- east is diversity wide about 3- 11 km. The whole area of gmina is 155,00 km2 what comprised about 3,5 % of the area of ex-rzeszowskie voivodoship. Population of the gmina is about 22, 2 thousand of habitants. Via the northern territory of the gmina Sędziszów Małopolski runs a rout of the motorway A4 (Wrocław- Kraków –Lwów – Kijów), section (Tarnów – Przeworsk), for which the Agency of Building and Exploitation of Motorways in Varsaw has obtained 28 of December 1998 the Location Decision from governor of Rzeszów no 1 and 2/98 From the west to the east side of the area of the gmina runs national road No 4 ( international E-40)- Zgorzelec- Medyka, From the north to the south runs the national road no 987 Kolbuszowa- Sędziszów Małopolski. Moreover on the south side of this town runs the bypass in the inter –regionally communication road Zgorzelec- Medyka Through the area of the gmina run the following railways: - main line E-30 (trans European’s relation) (Wrocław – Kraków – Rzeszów- Przemyśl), which is assign to modernization - 1st row line : (Kraków- Medyka) which has length about 8 km and it is the whole electricity Analysing administrative unit encompasses the town and gmina Sędziszów Małopolski. In the area there is an municipal and industrial centre. Population of the gmina Sędziszów Małopolski amounts to 22.260 inhabitants, while in the city there live 7 200, and about 15 100 in 14 rural communities.
